APCS
Know exactly how many people are on every bus.
Cameras installed at bus doors send images to Chartr's AI pipeline. The system counts passengers automatically — no expensive onboard hardware, no manual counts, no guesswork.

How It Works
Cameras in. AI counts. Dashboard shows.
The entire pipeline runs server-side. No expensive edge compute on the bus — just cameras, a 4G connection, and Chartr's AI.
01
Dual cameras capture
TrueView 4G dome cameras at the front and back doors photograph passengers as they board and alight at each stop.
02
Images sent over 4G
Images are transmitted over the bus's 4G connection to Chartr's backend — no onboard processing, no expensive edge hardware.
03
AI counts passengers
Server-side vision models and LLM-based analysis process each image, counting passengers and mapping the data to trips, routes, and time windows.
04
Live dashboard
Front count, back count, and total appear on the live dashboard per bus — updated every few minutes with a timestamp.
Phase 1
Employee Transit App
Before the counting cameras, Chartr built a full transit app for employees at the pilot site — live bus tracking, route information, real-time stop arrivals, and check-in for every shift.

Live Bus Map
Real-time bus positions across the city — buses, metro and shared transport all on one map

App Home
Bus tickets, metro tickets, passes, route info and last-mile all from the home screen

Live Stop Arrivals
Real-time arrival times per route at any stop — updated every minute

Route & Stop Detail
Full stop sequence for any route with schedule, frequency, and first/last bus timings
Live bus map
Track every bus moving in real time on a route map — no more guessing when the bus will arrive.
Route information
Browse all bus routes with their stop sequences and path details — know exactly where each route goes.
Live stop arrivals
Stop-level arrival times update live — see real-time ETAs for every stop along the selected route.
Check-In
Riders check in for their shift bus directly from the app — conductors can verify attendance digitally.
Phase 2
AI Passenger Counting
Two cameras per bus. Every image analysed by Chartr's AI. Passenger counts per bus, updated live.

Front Camera
Live CCTV feed — front door view used by AI to count boarding passengers

Back Camera
Live CCTV feed — rear door view captures alighting counts separately
Live Dashboard

Fleet View
Bus No · Front Count · Back Count · Total · Last Updated — for every bus at once

Per-Bus Detail
Timestamped readings per camera position — e.g. Front: 10 · Back: 18 · Total: 28 at 08:50

Camera Image Panel — Front
The exact image the AI analysed, shown alongside the count result

Camera Image Panel — Back
Back door feed matched with back-count for full passenger-flow visibility
Hardware
TrueView 4G — lightweight and ruggedised
IP66-rated dome cameras designed for bus interiors — one at the front door, one at the back. They capture, compress and upload over 4G. That's it.

Use Cases
What real ridership data unlocks
Smarter scheduling
Know which routes are overcrowded at 8 AM and which run half-empty at noon. Deploy buses where demand actually is.
Fare leakage detection
Compare passenger counts to tickets issued per trip. If 28 people are on board but 20 tickets were collected, you know immediately.
Government scheme compliance
Accurate ridership data — with gender and category segmentation — for subsidy claims, audits, and policy reporting.
